The West Village Rehearsal Co-Op is accepting booking requests for the summer season
We’re excited to open the next window of availability for the West Village Rehearsal Co-Op this summer.
The dates for our summer season are now open. WVRC is available for booking from June 15 through August 23.
IndieSpace rents the West Village Rehearsal Co-Op at $10 an hour.
We process bookings on a first come first serve basis. Please reach out to us with the dates and times you are interested in booking.

After we receive your request, we’ll confirm availability and send you a rental contract. Your booking is secured once we receive both the signed contract and payment for the space.

About the West Village Rehearsal Co-Op
We partner with Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, HERE, and the New Ohio Theatre/Soho Think Tank to bring affordable rehearsal space to the indie theater community!
Through this partnership, IndieSpace manages access to the space and its programs for six months of the year, while our partners take care of the other six months. During our allocated time, we’re committed to making the space available to our community for no more than $10 per hour, ensuring artists have an affordable, welcoming place to create.
More Than Just a Rental – A Shared Creative Space
Finding affordable rehearsal space is a huge challenge for most indie theater productions, companies, and artists. The closure of so many rehearsal studios during the pandemic made that resource even scarcer.
Our work with the Co-Op supports the New York theater community by providing a new, affordable, high-quality rental space that they can depend on.
We want to foster a sense of shared responsibility, where everyone who uses the space helps keep it welcoming for the next artist.
By offering space at just $10 an hour, we rely on a collective effort to care for and respect the space. Simple things, like cleaning up after rehearsals and being mindful of others, help sustain an accessible and supportive environment for all.

Who Is Eligible?
This rehearsal space is for NYC-based indie theater companies, collectives/productions, or individuals.
The West Village Rehearsal Co-Op isn’t exclusively used for rehearsals. Artists have used the space for writing sessions, auditions and casting, writing music, creating dance choreography, design meetings, and even small team gatherings or annual meetings. If you need a quiet, affordable place to focus, collaborate, or move your creative project forward, WVRC can be a great home for that work.
About the Space
The West Village Rehearsal Co-Op is located at 68 Gansevoort Street. The rehearsal space is located on the lower level of a commercial building and is accessible by an elevator.
The playing space is approximately 34 feet by 27 feet with one column. The ceiling height is 9.5 feet. There are no windows in the space, but there is a working HVAC system for air conditioning and heat with Merv 13 filtration. There is WiFi in the space. There is no reliable cell phone service.
Here is some information about the space and equipment that is available for use:
Sprung floors
An ADA-compliant bathroom within the rehearsal room and a second one in the hallway
There is a small kitchen with chairs, tables, and small appliances like a tea kettle, coffee maker, and fridge.
A Mackie 16-channel sound board, 2 speakers, and 4 SM 47 microphones. We have provided cords for all of these
Mic Stands, 6 Music Stands, 4 short stools, and 4 tall stools
20 Folding chairs and 4 folding tables
Basic track lighting
Important Information for Applicants
IndieSpace works to provide this space at the lowest possible cost to as many artists as possible. If you are granted the space, it means that someone else was not.
Cancellations immediately after the space is granted are extremely difficult for us to manage and result in the space not being utilized to its fullest potential. Please request only the time you are certain you need.
