An IndieSpace Initiative to Celebrate Showing Up
So much of our work as artists and organizers happens in the moments between. When we show up to meet, to listen, to imagine, we are building something meaningful. At IndieSpace, we see these moments as vital. Every time you join us, you help build the community we need.
We created The Connection Lottery in 2025 to honor the time, energy, and presence you bring into our shared spaces. It’s a way to say thank you for showing up, for contributing, and for helping shape the creative ecosystem we’re building together.
The prize – a $500 artist grant – isn’t just a reward; it’s a small gesture of care and recognition, meant to support your journey and remind you that your presence has real value here.
Why We’re Doing This
The Connection Lottery was created to:
Celebrate your commitment to being part of this community
Encourage continued engagement in IndieSpace programs
Tie everyday participation to meaningful support and acknowledgment
Who Can Join
Anyone who attends an eligible IndieSpace session, including:
IndieSpace Together (our monthly coworking day)
The Builders Series
IndieSpace in-person events
Online workshops and community meetups
How to Enter
At each eligible event, check in by scanning the available QR code. After scanning, fill out a short form with these questions:
Your name
Your email
Your Phone number
The session you attended
A quick reflection question (e.g., “What’s something that stuck with you today?”)
If you don’t have access to a phone or can’t scan the QR code, don’t worry! A manual sign-in will always be available, and our team will make sure your attendance counts.
Entry Rules
The more you show up, the more chances you have – whether you attend the same program regularly or join different ones throughout the year, every moment of connection counts.
One entry per session – the more often you participate, the more entries you earn
Entries reset each year, giving everyone a fresh start
The Draw
At the end of the year, during The Big Give, we’ll:
Compile all entries from across the year
Select one winner using a random draw
Announce the winner live during The Big Give
If IndieSpace is able to draw multiple awards at The Big Give 2026, artists can only win one award
Celebrate them across IndieSpace’s platforms – email, website, and social media
The Prize
The selected artist will receive a $500 cash prize – offered as a mini-artist grant to use however you see fit.
In 2025, we awarded two prizes! The recipients were:
Erica, who attended an IndieSpace Together event in November
Carrie, who attended a Builders Series Zoom in September
The Connection Lottery isn’t about competition – it’s about community. It’s about recognizing the value of your presence and your contribution to the collective. You are helping to shape the future of independent theatre in New York and beyond.
