An Overview of the Open Roles
Below is a brief overview of each role.
IndieSpace’s programs are at the center of our impact. This role ensures our grantmaking and resource programs are equitable, accessible, and deeply responsive to the artists who rely on us. You’ll bridge data, systems, grantmaking operations, and community relationships - helping us build trust, measure progress, and tell IndieSpace’s story with accuracy, clarity, and care.
Community Engagement Manager (Full-time)
Community connection is the heartbeat of IndieSpace. As Community Engagement Manager, you’ll create the spaces - literal and figurative - where independent artists and theater-makers connect, learn, and thrive. You’ll manage our community spaces and events, support relationship-building across the ecosystem, and bring structure and creativity to the many ways IndieSpace shows up for its people.
Space Operations Coordinator (Part-time)
Independent theater artists in New York City face a real and ongoing shortage of affordable, accessible rehearsal and gathering space. The Space Operations Coordinator helps IndieSpace address that need by ensuring the spaces we operate are welcoming, well-run, and genuinely useful to the artists, collectives, and companies we serve.
Digital Communications Consultant (Independent contractor)
IndieSpace’s work is deeply community-centered, and our digital communications are often the first way artists, partners, funders, and supporters encounter who we are and what we stand for. This role exists to help steward IndieSpace’s online presence with care, consistency, and creativity. You will help ensure our communications feel accessible, human, visually engaging, and aligned with our values. Through social media, video storytelling, and digital content creation, this role helps connect artists to resources, deepen community engagement, and increase visibility for the work happening across IndieSpace’s programs and partnerships.
If these opportunities are not a fit for you, please keep a lookout! We will be hiring for additional roles in the next few months.
We appreciate thoughtful applications and look forward to learning more about you and the ways you might contribute to IndieSpace and our community.
