IndieSpace Together
A New Way to Connect, Create, and Collaborate
We’re excited to share that our coworking program is getting a refresh—with a new name, a new vibe, and even more ways to build community. Welcome to IndieSpace Together.
This new version reflects what we’ve seen really matters to artists: the conversations, the connections, and the space to be supported and inspired. While coworking is still part of the experience, this gathering is evolving into something deeper—a consistent space to meet others, ask questions, explore ideas, and engage with the IndieSpace team and invited guests.
We’re also making a couple of exciting updates:
Extended hours, so you can drop in when it works best for you
More consistent scheduling, to help make IndieSpace Together a regular part of your creative rhythm and give you the opportunity to plan ahead.
This is about showing up for each other—and growing stronger, together.
Our Next Gathering: Wednesday, October 15, 2025
We’ll be together at Creative Time from 1pm – 7:30pm.
Come to get some work done or to network and connect with other artists, producers, writers, and collectives.
We’re thrilled that this month’s IndieSpace Together will be hosted at Creative Time, an organization known for pushing the boundaries of how art can shape public life.
For decades, Creative Time has commissioned and presented ambitious public art projects in partnership with hundreds of artists and organizations throughout New York City, across the country, and around the world. We’re grateful to hold this gathering in their workspace and appreciate their role as a vital force in supporting artists and the arts community.
Creative Time
59 East 4th Street, 6th Floor,
New York, NY 10003
Come to get some work done or to network and connect with other artists, producers, writers, and collectives.
Here’s the flow of the day:
1pm–5pm: Coworking
Coworking space open. This is an opportunity to get work done outside of your home, in community with other indie theater makers. Bring your laptop, your notebook, noise-canceling head phones and dive into that project you've been meaning to finish.
5pm–6pm: Networking
Community networking hour. A more social window for conversations, connections, and idea sharing. You can connect with other artists, producers, writers, and collectives.
6pm–7:30pm: Community dialogue about IndieSpace Co-Op Model for our upcoming Hell’s Kitchen Space
We’ll be hosting a conversation with special guests about the Co-Op model, information about the space in Hell’s Kitchen, and IndieSpace's desire to create a co-op where artists have ownership.
We are in the process of creating this model, and your feedback will be crucial to ensuring that it best meets the needs of the indie theater community.
This day is designed to be flexible, welcoming, and centered on the kind of connection that keeps our creative community strong.
Special Guests!
Sruti Suryanarayanan from Art.Coop will be joining us in person and available to chat throughout the day about how everyone can embrace cooperative values and principles, within and beyond the co-operative structure.
McKenzie Jones from The Worker Place will be joining via Zoom for the Community dialogue about IndieSpace Co-Op Model for our upcoming Hell’s Kitchen Space from 6pm-7:30pm. McKenzie is supporting IndieSpace with creating this model and we’re excited that McKenzie will be joining us for this discussion!
What Is IndieSpace Together?
IndieSpace Together is a community-powered gathering space for artists to connect, recharge, and grow. Whether you’re coming to get some work done, meet new people, or just be in the mix, here’s what you can expect:
Support with IndieSpace applications and guidance on how to access our year-round resources
Opportunities to connect with our team and special guests—like grant writers, development consultants, producing collectives, elected officials, and foundation partners—who will join us at different sessions to share tools and insight based on community needs
Activities that energize and inspire, from advocacy conversations and documentary chats to games, books, and creative exchanges
A rotating venue series, with sessions held at different theater spaces across NYC, giving folks a chance to discover new artistic homes
Coworking, an opportunity to get work done outside of your home, in community with other indie theater makers. Bring your laptop, your notebook, or that project you've been meaning to finish—and enjoy the company of others doing the same.
This isn’t just a place to work—it’s a space to gather, grow, and feel part of something bigger.

IndieSpace Together: May 14, 2025
At Brooklyn Art Haus
We appreciate everyone who joined us in May! It was a day with great energy and community spirit!
As May is Mental Health Awareness Month, we provided a wellness offering: free chair massages provided by Infinite Massage, in a quiet space designed for rest and recharge.
Being there demonstrated just how vital it is to gather — to support one another, exchange ideas, and nurture the indie theater ecosystem.
Our Hosts – Brooklyn Art Haus
IndieSpace Together will be held at venues around the city this year. It’s a way for everyone to experience different neighborhoods and spaces.
Our special thanks to Brooklyn Art Haus for being the first to host this event! We were thrilled to partner with a venue that works hard to support artists and wellness, and we're glad that additional community members could see what a fantastic venue it is.

Special Guests – Privy Producing Collective
We are so grateful that Privy Producing Collective joined us at IndieSpace Together during the coworking section!
Privy Producing Collective is made up of Theresa Buchheister, Julia Greer, and Bailey Williams. They have each produced on many different scales wearing countless hats – taking projects from concept to presentation all over New York and beyond. They came together over a belief that artists and indie companies should be empowered to make and present their own work.
